LOL, much the same, even several years ago! And people were wondering why more people were using a downloader so they can play it on a player that don't have so much overhead!

IOW, please make...

Re: Gpu Nvidia geforce 9800 gt

This appears to be a common problem with GeForce 9800 GTs. IIRC, I saw this with a GeForce 9800 GT in 2009, shortly after a guy purchased it! (Apparently, the PC was only booting, because of the...

Re: Repurposing a 2004 Athlon 64 system in 2021

Back in the '00s, I would have loved a GeForce 4 Ti and payed an arm for a Ti 4200 back in 2004, IIRC. I would have loved a 4800, but the 64 MB 4200s weren't "gimped" like the 128 MB 4200s were! I...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Darn, wished I kept at least one of my CRTs that I still had 5 years ago! (last had it in 2016)

Re: WARNING: Live heatsinks & single pole on/off switches in switching power supplies

Looks like over here in the Americas, having only the neutral switched and the hot, not connected to a pole, can end extremely badly.

It can turn the device that you're working on into a...

Re: Who is good with graphics cards repair, Asus gtx580.

Looks like the OP thinks it means the same thing as RX 580!

GTX 580 is the GeForce gen before Kepler.

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair

The ballasts I have for F15T8, are the usual new solid-state stuff, TMK.
(most likely a higher-than-AC-input-frequency switcher) (And it has to use a cap, TMK)

I think all the T12 ballasts I...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

There seems to be a secret issue, that no one is known to tell anyone about:

Looks like Windows 95 and Windows 98 have a 768 MB limit. I don't know if that's RAM too, or just a wacky issue with...

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?

Windows 7, was the latest Windows version I ever used on my socket 1366 system. The same with socket 775, of course.

Re: ASUS FX705GD FX505GD MB REV 2.0 - restarts during boot

I don't know. I've had a similar problem due to a bad USB drive connection.

Re: ASUS FX705GD FX505GD MB REV 2.0 - restarts during boot

Sounds like Windows keeps crashing and rebooting itself. If this is with a USB drive, most likely a stop error code caused by a USB I/O error.

Re: Asus KFN5-D SLI Kinda Retro-ish Rescue / Build

That was what I have been thinking. At least, they seem to last long in stereos. Had one from the very-late-1990s with them and the sub woofer was also still sounding OK.

It's a stereo receiver...

Re: Asus KFN5-D SLI Kinda Retro-ish Rescue / Build

I saw "Su'scon", which were around in goods before the dreaded "Sacon" caps found in some Soyo motherboards. Is "Su'scon" the same company? WTF?!

Re: Asus KFN5-D SLI Kinda Retro-ish Rescue / Build

QFT, mostly! That's why I removed one from a Ryzen system built by someone else. In, went a Corsair TX 850M, IIRC. The same one that I was using for my socket 1366 powerhouse PC in the...

Re: Asus KFN5-D SLI Kinda Retro-ish Rescue / Build

So 2008 is the year of overlaps? LOL

That year, had the 9800GT not long before that, just like we had both Conroe, Kentsfield, Wolfdale and Yorkfield for Core 2 CPUs. (both 65nm and 45nm)
