Re: Killed my Asus A7V266-E? Need advice

They actually appear to be Nichicon HD (1500F 6.3V, they appear to match the case size in the datasheet as well going by the photos provided). The fifth image in the third post depicts part of the...

Re: Old stock capacitors

Teapo SM is crap, too. No longer in production IIRC, but Ive seen too many motherboards with every one popped or bad. Ive seen them fail just sitting as well. Other than that, they (Teapo) are...

Re: Old stock capacitors

Personally, Ive had a rather unfavorable experience with Teapo capacitors manufactured in 2009 and before, regardless of series and case size. Whether or not you want to use them is up to you, but I...

Re: Why do people use TEAPO / YAGEO / G-LUXON?

Sorry, I should have specified. I wrote that a long time ago but I was referencing the capacitance rating. It seems no CapXon series is exempt from trouble regarding any voltage load very close to...

Re: Fake Rubycons?

If the whole board is full of swollen capacitors it could have come out of a poorly ventilated and/or cooled case, or maybe certain FETs or coils on the board, neighboring said capacitors, dissipated...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

Sorry, it was just a suggestion, wasn’t trying to dictate the general consensus. Rubycon MCZ and MFZ have issues pertaining to heat failures but they are not known to fail just sitting unused. MBZ...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

Rubycon YXF is another excellent series which has proven itself worthy in terms of long-term reliability, although its an ethylene glycol based series IIRC but with a very good endurance rating.

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

Chemi-con LXZ is another gamma butyrolactone based series that seems to match Panasonic FC’s leakage current spec and case sizes going by the datasheet (and they seem to be available at the regular,...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2

The cooling in BTX based systems seems to be problematic. Actually, many of the failed KZGs and KZJs (and -some- MCZs) Ive seen have come from BTX cases. I still see them failing when the...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

stj said hes seen lots of FCs leak and kc8adu had this happen a while back. This might be normal after a decade or so - just like the quaternary salt capacitors from three to four decades ago.

I...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

Looks like it was made in either February of 2006 or 2016. Id hope the former because only new cheapos should leak after 3~4 years of sitting in storage (13~14 years would be more reasonable...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2

It looks like there are two caps used on the +5V rail, one 4700F 10V Teapo SC and one 3300F 10V? Teapo SC. I’d guess the mismatched rectifiers on the +12V output are because in a forward design,...

Re: HiPro HP-P3017F3 rev:03 [Dell H057N] - capacitor repair

The capacitor after the filtering coil on the +5V rail looks like a 3300F 10V Teapo SC, not 4700F 10V (looking closely at the fourth and fifth attachment), if the capacitance and voltage rating is...

Re: Panasonic FC series - leaking? quality gone?

What does the datecode on the FC say? I know how to decode Panasonic’s date decoding format and as do other members here. I guess it can’t be that old - probably less than a decade old. Momaka’s...

Re: Panasonic FJ/FL genuine or not?

I cant see the attachments. If they (the capacitors) are sourced from eBay and/or from Hong Kong, chances are they could be counterfeits. Ive seen Panasonic FJ, FJS, and FL with black/white sleeves...

Re: Dell Optiplex GX110- Error 8602 and No PS/2 Controller

I googled the GX110 motherboard and looked for one on eBay. It seems these boards only use solid capacitors around the CPU (Sanyo OS-CON SP, TCNQ complex salt / organic semiconductor). I guess those...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Taicons most notorious offenders were found on Socket 462 and 478 ASRock motherboards from 2003 and 2004, in the form of the 8mm diameter 11mm high 1000F 6.3V HD series. It was quite common to find...

Re: Just when you thought polymers gave a PC eternal life!

Eh... I would deem Teapo a couple notches lower than “not too bad”, or “second tier” even in lighter applications. An example, here’s a video demonstrating how they’re capable of failing (visibly)...

Re: New Asrock 775i65g 3.0 with Chemi-con KZG caps - replace now or wait?

RoHS compliant boards use lead-free solder which has a higher melting point. The problem with older Pentium 4 era ASUS/ASRock boards is they tend to favor the usage of crap craps from the factory...

Re: New Asrock 775i65g 3.0 with Chemi-con KZG caps - replace now or wait?

As far as I know, no capacitor series or brand has a 100% failure rate except Sacon FZ maybe and possibly a select few series of old.

Was the 775i65g R3.0 manufactured anytime before 2008 or 2009?...

Re: The Hall of Shame - Badcaps Photo Montage

The font on those “Nichicons” is definitely dodgy, although I’d be curious to see if the bung is accurate or not. My guess is that they are most probably counterfeits as well.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I’d say they’re equally bad, but the lower voltage parts on the VRM output (2200F 6.3V, 1500F 6.3V, and 3300F 6.3V, etc) or those scattered amongst the board (1000F 6.3V in NXC’s case and 820F...

Re: The Hall of Shame - Badcaps Photo Montage

I think LTEC just went from iffy to utter crap over time.

As to Fuhjyyu, well... this is an example of why Fuhjyyu has such an unfavorable reputation:
