Re: Short finder
No need :wink:
The current source problem arises from using the 5V output line from the Arduino Nano.
As he wrote somewhere he couldn't figure out why the voltage (5V) dropped when the tips were...

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
Yes there are some Notitake datasheets and even some Arduino libraries available. For Noritake VFD PW-899-101 (Noritake Itron GU140X16G-7000 Dot Graphic VFD Display Module) the Arduino library...

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
That's what i described you would most likely find onboard a VFD.
A µC scanning (multiplexing) the vfd (most likely thru an IC because voltage levels) and a serial (often 3 wire) interface...

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
As i recall they used a multiplex scan circuitry IC (maxim i believe) connect to a µC. You might get better luck disassembling it and walking your way thru.
imo it's to expensive for the specs,...

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
The pictures may help...
Test leads are unconnected (Needle in rest position):
VOM: ∞Ω -> Correct
VTCOM: 0Ω -> Incorrect
DMM: 'OL' = ∞Ω -> Correct

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
How come...? Take an example where the test leads are unconnected: both VOMs and DMMs will read 0 in V & A and 'infinite' or 'OL' in Ohm > Correct.
Unlike Vacuum Tube VOMs (VTVOMs) that will read 0...

Re: Analog Multimeter Readings
It all comes down to basic stuff, much like riding a bike...:smile:
Of course digital tends to be more direct forward making readings because we don't have to pay attention to the multiply knob...

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
Yes i meant an oscilloscope, but a multi meter (if with enough samples /s) set to V would work, or instead set to frequency reading.
That's good news :d
No ridiculousness involved. Sometimes...

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
Since the programmer, CH341A, is recognized both by OS and the software the CH341A isn't dead.
Because you've done the 3.3V voltage supply tweak if any input/output pins came in touch with 5V most...

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
Pins 6, 7, 8 are input pins and left floating in CH341A programmer.
See the attached schematic and try to figure out what's wrong (though there are several versions available).

Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?
According to the label we can only tell it contains flux type P2 > hence Rosin.
As for percentage it's unspecified.
It's a little worse... if "Val." stands for "valid / validity" as it should,...

Re: New Laser Soldering tool
Nothing else than a fool guy playing with dangerous a new toy :duh:
Even by the way he uses the tweezers, picking up discrete components by the soldered ends, one can tell he's :noob:

Re: Current / voltage injection don’t work for me.
Why are you worried about not being current limited? The PSU will only provide the current needed that may well be much less than 20A max. current output.
In the event the faulty component burns out...

Re: Current / voltage injection don’t work for me.
Not necessarily, it might be auto shutting down due to overload. You will need a higher power rated PSU.
Inspect visually the MB, search for damages, most likely caused by those massive cooling heat...

Re: New Cheap Chinese Soldering Plates
Those gloves don't provide any accuracy
Even an aluminium foil paper sheet would provide much better results.
Place the sheet over the heat plate, leave good margins, place the strip, do the work,...
