Re: HELP: I accidentally broke a capacitor off of my motherboard...

oh and by the way. loosing ONE cap off the mobo will prob not make any difference. there is a HIGH probability that it will boot fine without it.

Re: HELP: I accidentally broke a capacitor off of my motherboard...

the easy dirty solution here is to solder a LEADED cap on there - kind of on the surface and make sure its on there pretty solid. its not pretty but it will work and provide years of service. ...

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

Great idea fellas! The bulb trick I have heard of before, I will give that a whirl. I see that kit on ebay and its reasonable. Thanks for all the help and suggestions! :groucho: Red and rj.

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

I appreciate the feedback RJ! i will check q602 and see about getting a low ohm kit.

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

I did not put a screw since it would likely short :( I will check Q602 - do you think i can get by with R611 as 1 Ohm? I def. do not have any SUB-ohm on hand.

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

For the primary rectifier diodes I used what I had on hand. 1N4007 the originals are 1N539BL. The zener was 1ZB36BL. What looks like electrical tape is thermal padding I had for a big SCR since...

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

My next step after fixing the resistor was going to be pull the transformer (on the output side of the MOSFET) and see if does not blow the fuse.

Re: SMPS Resistor confirmation

I did not notice that transistor! thanks - here are both sides... the rectifier on the AC mains I replaced but it blew immediately. so those two are still missing. it is a full wave bridge...

SMPS Resistor confirmation

I have not done too much SMPS repair. The resistor in this pic looks like a 0.68 Ohm 5% value correct? It is OPEN. The zener across it is a 36V that was shorted. When did they start making SILVER...

Re: Treadmill Motor Control Board 032669-IF

The general things you can do are, INSPECT the board and componenets on both sides. The underside for any solder joints that might be "cold" - Also look for capacitors that might have leaked or...

Re: Oven LCD display dim and uneven

perhaps check the VFD display solder connections to the main board? if you can inspect them wth a magnifying glass. You might see solder joints that are cracked. reflowing the joints with some...

Re: Help identify a Zener?

Sure sounds familiar! I have a large deductable so no help there! the a/c compressor was at end of life so they would not offer much and that would be the largest cost! so not worth it in my case....

Re: Help identify a Zener?

Oh yeah! it destroyed all told: garage sensors, the logic board had 2 fried SOT23 transistors for the relays and one diode across a relay. The Zener 6.2V on the main logic board was shorted. it...

Re: Help identify a Zener?

Very interesting! I hooked it up to a logic board and that LED lit right up. Interesting. I have likely OVER diagnosed this due to not knowing that little bit about current loop! :noob: thanks...

Re: Help identify a Zener?

I found a trace break on the input to the PNP device. The demodulation makes sense, I am seeing a constant of the 150Hz - when I shine the emitter inthe receiver it does not change but maybe the PNP...
