Re: Let's talk about SCADA

Well the compound is currently fully operational and will most definitely remain so in the future as well, so we don't actually need to reinvent the wheel here and deploy any complex equipment of our...

Re: Let's talk about SCADA

No, it's not quite a split bridge like the one pictured, though one of the compounds DOES have a single-leaf (?) drawbridge as part of its system. This is actually a water-lock: it lowers or raises...

Thumbs up Re: Let's talk about SCADA

I reckon those Xinje PLCs I messed around with in the past when I was told to rethink those water treatment stations some of you may remember are also capable of being part of a SCADA system....

Re: Let's talk about SCADA

I think punctuation got lost somewhere along the way :D

There's actually 2 of these compounds and a head office all connected via fiber and a backup radio. The fiber's been down for a solid year...

Thumbs up Re: Let's talk about SCADA

Ok, no, don't worry, it's not AS crazy as it sounds: we won't dive head-first into this on our own, with nobody there but us newbies - there's plenty of staff there who already handles all the...

Re: Let's talk about SCADA

Everything DIY seems to revolve most around Visual Studio, so it looks like the perfect opportunity for me to learn something new :D

Re: Let's talk about SCADA

Beckhoff...interesting. There, see ? Plenty of different solutions out there. They're probably proprietary too, so it involves knowing exactly which one to pick up and learn....the more, the better...

Thumbs up Re: Let's talk about SCADA

THIS (https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/muntadharjafar/scada-control-of-a-water-pumping-station-f4cdd4) is a good example that comes fairly close.

I'm already thinking of implementing something...

Talking Let's talk about SCADA

Good day folks. As some of you may know from some of my stories here, my boss always likes to take on new and interesting projects he comes across, especially if there's a lot of money involved, so...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

That's good to know. Also, I'm surprised to see how popular the HUD discussion is over on EEV :D

Re: Logitech Z5500 No Sound (Bad control pod help)

Thanks for the reply, but I managed to fix it after all. The problem: orange wire inside the control pod had broken off the solder pad....yeah....:D Must be for MUTE/Stand-by control.

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

"Across" you mean like the area of the "stage" you are able to see ? We're not talking about working distance here (the distance from the lens to the stage)...

Unhappy Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Yeah, if 20x is indeed the lowest it can go down to, it's useless...too high.

THIS ONE (https://www.tme.eu/ro/en/details/nb-ztec2/microscopes/newbrand/) goes down to 10x, but it's still too much...

Unhappy Logitech Z5500 No Sound (Bad control pod help)

Good day folks. A former colleague of mine asked me to have a look at his prized Z5500 system which he's very fond of. He said it suddenly stopped working. He brought the sub and the console to our...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

BTW: did the site configure itself in English at your end when you accessed it ? That's how I set it, but it could snap back to RO. Maybe they're referring to the MAXIMUM it can go up to...haven't...

Question Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Taking a few steps back, I wonder if THIS (https://www.tme.eu/en/details/nb-xt3b/microscopes/newbrand/) is the same scope as the others of this kind floating around, just mounted on a traditional...

Lightbulb Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Microsoft Sam here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EndB158l8Z8) takes one apart for us :DI believe it's fairly similar to yours and others out there, even Louis's, since they all seem identical...

Can you link to it ? I'll probably hop on EEV myself now that you mention it. Why not...:D

Thumbs up Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Looking at some pics of your particular microscope on Ali, as much as I can make out to get an idea of how it's put together and how one might go about hacking it. I see the white boxes that house...

Thumbs up Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

I like that !

Yes, probably with practice I can learn to keep my probes steady enough even when looking away from the microscope to look at the meter, but I still think this would be pretty handy,...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Yes, I imagine that would be another issue in the long run - you can't fire a laser straight into someone's eye :D However, it was suggested pointing the laser at the stage, not up through the...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

No, I haven't, especially since it's something that just popped into my brain at semi-random. I'm not a member of EEv anyway, plus I don't have a microscope anyway, since I would be willing to take...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

I actually did come across an idea like that, since I'm obviously not the first guy to dream of that. The issue I see, though I could be wrong, is that the projection would have to...

Re: Soldering station thoughts and guidelines

Thanks for the info.

I think someone could try to integrate the HUD in the eyepieces rather than the scope body itself. Something like a miniature teleprompter which uses a semi-reflective mirror...
