Re: Fluxes in Europe

Thanks. I came across TME before, and it's good. It's however not worth shipping a buy a single tube from them... makes sense to order a couple of items then the shipping cost can be justified :)...

Re: Fluxes in Europe

Yes correct :) I don't have the right tools to fix BGAs.

Re: Fluxes in Europe

@stj, always to the rescue :)

Paste flux for soldering. Not sure if I understood your question correctly.

Fluxes in Europe

Simple question, cause it seems that all the flux related threads are from people in the US :)

Where is everyone getting their fluxes from in the EU? Unfortunately my country is small and I can't...

Troubleshooting Uni-T EEPROM ErrE

I've got a UT139C that powers on for a second with an ErrE, before switching itself back off.

I haven't found much information about this, other then the error being caused by the EEPROM (both on...

Re: Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

Seems like it. I'll disassemble it and do a visual inspection first

Re: Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

This new mustimeter I am using is not showing OL, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I got it for cheap from a hardware store since my Uni-T died. The Uni-T also had auto-range, so it was easier...

Re: Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

I've moved the mosfet out of the circuit to test, and below is how it was tested (just because I always get confused on how to properly test them).

This mosfet is KF2N60I 224.

I think this...

Re: Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

Amazing explanation! In this case I'll go ahead and remove that mosfet, try to figure out which pins are S G D and come back with info. So far I've always had mixed results testing 3 legged mosfets,...

Re: Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

OK, I guess I have to take that out then :)
What makes you think it's the mosfet when there's other resistors closer to it that are not affected?

Wii Power Adapter... for fun :)

So I'm trying to learn my way through fixing electronics by practice.

This power adapter was given to me by my friend, instead of throwing away, because in reality you can get a replacement for...

Re: My Uni-T died... looking for a replacement

Electronics. Yeah I read about it, I'll probably create a dedicated thread about this, hoping to find someone who will be willing to assist with troubleshooting :)

Re: My Uni-T died... looking for a replacement

Thanks! I'll have a look at those Brymen, never heard of that brand before.

Definitely not worth paying hundreds in my case. Maybe the cost of these Brymen would be the max I'd pay. This is...

My Uni-T died... looking for a replacement

Hello people, hope you are all doing well!

I have a lovely Uni-T UT139C, which I've used during the past couple years, but has unfortunately died on me. It comes up with an ErrE error, and upon a...

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

Now it's nothing, cause it literally exploded on me.

But I noticed that the EN2 was 0V again, PGOOD was measuring 0.1V at the time. Then I checked VIN, got 13.5V and it exploded :p:

I have some...

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

So if I understood correctly, the sequence is more or less:

1. Ensure 19V (or whatever the voltage in is) is being inputted
2. I am not sure why we checked PR702, but I am assuming that the 19V...

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

You're right :)

EN1 should be 5V right? I can only assume so because the trail says "5V_EN"

VIN > 13.5V
EN1 > 2.7V
EN2 > 3.3V
SW1 > 5V
SW2 > 3.3V

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

Looks complex. Am I right to think that EN2 should output 3V?

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

VIN > 13.5V
EN1 > 2.5V
EN2 > 0V
SW1 > 5V
SW2 > 3.3V

Question for you, how do you know what's the expected voltage? Is this by experience or by analysing the chip's datasheet?

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

VREG3 and VREG5 seems fine, 3.3V and 5V respectively.

Am I right to say that this is the voltage step down chip that distributes the lower voltages to the rest of the circuits?

Re: Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

Yes, PR702 seems fine, 19V is present in the area.

Just to clarify, it powers on fine (by fine I mean that display works, Dell logo is up, boot menu is up, and...

Dell Inspiron 3537 - Powers Off

I've got this Dell Inspiron 3537, LA-9982P, can it powers on during POST (I'm guessing). Occasionally I get the typical Dell message complaining about not using the correct adapter with the right...
