there is no standby trigger on the CBM monitors, just DPST mains switching.

does that switch normally solder to the board, or have wires on it?
if it's wires then a replacement wouldnt be hard.

on the 8833-II i removed the pushbutton from the case and fitted a rocker...

i think i know what they did.
check ZD6, check all the transistors bolted to heatsinks,
get the board out of the shell and see whats soldered to the other side.

i think they are using mosfets...

i would assume it's for anything that comes in for repair:
computers, consoles ranging from HDMI all the way to composite video, AV amplifiers with OSD - anything really.

you should check the B+ voltage and compare it to the manual - it can be ajusted.
it's DC btw. ;)

check the output diodes - it may be detecting a short circuit.

i think the difference between those triacs is one has an isolated tab and the other can be live!

the joints are cracked - i can see the ghost-rings in the foto!
