Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

I should clarify. The pictures there are both uncleaned and the MG chemicals is the very shiny one.

Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

Well, you live you learn. without cleanup my MG chem stuff is a clear winner. The new stuff leaves an almost burgundy crust that is really difficult to remove even with 99% alcohol.

Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

I took a gamble and bought this stuff and it arrived already. Wets really nicely and has adequate flux content from the residue you have to clean up afterwards. It doesn't finish quite as shiny as...

Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

I bought a 1lb roll of lead free for $8 which was possibly a pricing error just so I have some lead free if anyone ever requests it...

Is this stuff any good? I have another leaded MG chemicals...

Re: Finally built the Bob Parker "Blue" ESR Meter

I saw spikes of around 35mA but about 12mA idle and 25-28 with the leads shorted or while testing a capacitor.

Re: Finally built the Bob Parker "Blue" ESR Meter

I can check in a little bit for you. I currently use a 9v lithium which is just two lithium cells making it about 8.4v fully charged. Seems to work fine.

Re: Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

Yeah I messaged him to ask about the flux type and he wasn't sure but said he would contact the distributor. The date code is the 21 I believe (2021)

Anyone ever hear of this solder brand before?

Need some .6mm solder. I gave what was left of my cheap 63/37 to a friend who needed some. Stumbled on this brand. I figured "made in Japan" it must be half decent but it doesn't give flux...

Re: Replacing Fake Sanyo's in a SMPS

Those Panasonic's are impossible to find and don't have a restock data until December. I just used the chubby 680uf 35v KZE's I had. They fit fine with some angled installation.

Re: Replacing Fake Sanyo's in a SMPS

This is not the normal KSGER T12 unit. It's the one with 3 digit 7 segment display. It was a kit and I think it was $23 total or something super cheap. Unfortunately it didn't have the same wiring...

Replacing Fake Sanyo's in a SMPS

I have a cheap chinese T12 soldering station that I really like and use a lot. It has (clearly) fake Sanyo WG caps (1000uf 35v) on the secondary side that I'd like to replace with authentic caps. ...

Re: Post your worthless and/or pointless repairs

You guys will laugh at this one. Got this old iPitomy phone system from the bin at work. It's basically an intel Atom x86 system with a pico DC-DC power supply. I replaced the motherboard caps...

Re: Laptop power brick audibly noisy

It seems to have quieted down a little but still that light tapping. I've actually used it for the past couple days to power an old 2010 laptop which I use for my USB microscope and no issues. It...

Finally bit the bullet on the Hakko FR301

I've been eyeing this thing up for years but could never justify the cost. I'm doing more console modding and repairs so I finally bit. I don't have it yet but wondering others opinions. I'll not...

Re: Laptop power brick audibly noisy

Definitely not cap squealing. It's coming from the transformer it would seem. It's like a soft rapid tapping.

Laptop power brick audibly noisy

I wired this up with a apple airport cable so it would fit my Pinecil soldering iron and not have a stupid heavy ferrite bead at the end near the plug. The noise changes depending on the load. With...
