Re: Need Advice On Which Caps To Buy For Dell Dimension 8300 Motherboard

Sometimes the bad caps causes the system to become too unstable, when it then saves some data to disk that can get corrupted and cause the issue you have.
To test that make a clean installation of...

Re: Asus P2B | Slot 1 + Pentium II | no power

From the numbers you provided of your meter it has at least three digits so you can just look for the lowest possible ohm reading on the board...
Would be easier with more digits but maybe still...

Re: Delta DPS-150GB PSU failure

Yes remove all small caps and test them but just a note: let them cool down to room temperature before measuring otherwise the data will be better than in reality (exactly like in the proposed heat...

Re: Asus P2B | Slot 1 + Pentium II | no power

Yes, that means the problem is somewhere else.
If you have a high resolution multimeter and sharp probes you can sometimes find the short by looking for the lowest ohms reading.
If not there are...

Re: Delta DPS-150GB PSU failure

Replacing all small electrolytic capacitors is certainly a good idea when the unit is 25 years old, it might just fix it.
One way to perhaps confirm that is to heat the unit up to ca 50C or so, if...

Re: Asus P2B | Slot 1 + Pentium II | no power

Desolder it (or at least lift the legs) to test it out of circuit: it does look shorted with those values.

Re: W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

+5v is sent from the computer graphics card via the DVI or HDMI cable to power the small i2c chips that contain a eeprom with supported resolutions etc even when the monitor has no external power....

Re: Asus P2B | Slot 1 + Pentium II | no power

Q9 is not a Mosfet, it is a Schottky diode
Test it with the multimeters diode test function, you should have a drop of ca 0.2v from pin 3 (anode) to the tab (cathode) and open in the other...

Re: Component tester which one is worth the money from it capability to test and iden

There is a nice document here that has a comparison: https://github.com/madires/Transistortester-Warehouse/blob/master/Documentation/English/Clone-Comparison-Chart.pdf

But the basic thing is that...

Re: New tool to find short capacitors on motherboards : shorty with display

Well, you could use a regulator with a little bit better dropout voltage than 3000mV if you're going to power it from a battery I say! :D
I was looking for a replacement to my ESR tester and came...

Re: New tool to find short capacitors on motherboards : shorty with display

It can apparently also have a uA78M05 regulator and that is only good for 500mA:

Re: Anyone know of an alternative for a R10E2662-2 DPDT relay

Looking at a photo here (https://www.qservice.eu/shopexd.asp?id=1359) shows a coil resistance of 145Ω
From that same series of relays you've shown we can see there exists a version with a coil...

Re: Anyone know of an alternative for a R10E2662-2 DPDT relay

I can confirm it is most likely a 4.5v relay because it sits on the +5v line and is controlled by a transistor so that will have a 0.7v drop...

Re: flourescent ballast resistance

It requires a ballast to work, otherwise it will burn out.
In your picture on the lamp it is written Osram Dulux S model 827, it has a G23 base.

From the datasheet we can see it is a 11W lamp...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I could not find any specs either, only the output voltages.
Might be best to not start this up if the caps have not been reformed for 50 or so years, the series was introduced in 1958 according to...

Re: Reading input and output of bridge rectifier on the same scope?

Yes, to get around that instead of using an isolation probe (the proper tool for the job) you can utilize two oscilloscope probes as I alluded to in my post above.
What you do is simply hook one to...

I would not buy from that seller because he mixed up the type of diode in the title of the AD vs the description!
"Ultra Fast Recovery Diode" vs "Standard General Purpose"
-Typical Chinese crap,...
