Re: PS4 WLOD repair - need help.

Yeah definetely the HDMI port is pushed in - the black plastic at the back of it should be flush with the metal frame, not bulging out. You have to replace the HDMI connector for sure - then see...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Now that I can totally agree with - I hated that in the UK, going for days or even weeks without ever seeing the sun, and days in the winter when it can't even be arsed to come light properly!

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Strangely I never thought that batteries die in warm climates - coming form the North West of the UK I can guarentee that whenever my car battery died it would be because it was bloody freezing. In...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

But as I mentioned earlier my Nissan Vanette Cargo 2.3D has a mid-mounted engine under the front seats. There are loads of those vans on the roads here, there is not a day I go driving without...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Sorry guys it is my wrong terminology that caused the confusion. The battery will be maintenance free then - I just called it sealed as it does not have the little screw in covers where you can add...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Just to finalize this thread

I removed the brake light switch and there was nothing wrong with it. It is NC, and open when pushed. I got my torch and had a good look, and basically the brake...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Sorted - it's surprising how a mystery disappears once you have all the evidence

As Sam suggested, I put my bench supply on the battery leads, set to 12.5V 1A, ignition off.

The current limiter...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

So the fuse box is right next to the battery

I pulled out most of the fuses one by one apart from the two little 15A ones

They didnt' want to come out without a fight, but the last blue one...

Re: Sony Hit Bit MSX HB-75B restoration repair attempt

I got this all cleaned up, but I have a couple of problems with it. The big problem is that the linear power transformer seems to be faulty - when powered up with a light bulb mains limiter, it...

Bit of an outside chance this, as it is auto electrics rather than electronics

But could anyone suggest how to diagnose this problem?

I have a Nissan Vanette Cargo 2.3D built 1999. One of the...

Re: Potters Wheel - Faulty Power Switch, can anyone identify?

Sam got it mostly correct - the motor is 90V

I didn't get around to checking the voltage on that big electrolytic as I had already given it back to the customer to test.

Having...

Re: Potters Wheel - Faulty Power Switch, can anyone identify?

I don't have the motor - just the controller. I spoke to the owner, he used it for several years and doesn't have a transformer.

He says the on/off switch normally lights up so it does have a...

Re: Potters Wheel - Faulty Power Switch, can anyone identify?

Yes it was working. I don't think they need use a step down transformer - on the side of the controller box it says

Re: Potters Wheel - Faulty Power Switch, can anyone identify?

Thanks

Neon in the switch makes sense.

What I am not so sure of, is why the big electrolytic is 150V when this unit runs on 220V. It says so on the sticker at the side of the controller (which...
