Re: what to do with faulty hard drives?

There's some value in the PCBs for data recovery, but they would take time to sell. You could try and sell them as a job lot locally, otherwise I'd say they're scrap.

This one has resistors you can change to increase the gain. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001703051433.html

Whether you'd be able to tell a difference depends on the source audio and what...

Re: Toshiba Satellite M50-A keyboard connector on LA-A481P motherboard

The locking mechanism style wasn't important, it held the keyboard cable securely. There are many vendors selling different quantities but the connectors look identical, I'm sure it will be fine.

Re: Toshiba Satellite M50-A keyboard connector on LA-A481P motherboard

I've used the same type as you list to repair a Toshiba keyboard, 0.8mm pitch, it's a different latch but it works fine.

I've got a Packard Bell with a LA-7912P rev 1.0, it runs with the DC adapter plugged in and it will run from the battery if that's plugged in. It only runs on battery if the DC adapter is plugged in....

Re: MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G error 43.

You've identified the problem. The two missing gold fingers have traces going to them. Compare against a pin out of the socket to see what is missing. https://pinouts.ru/Slots/pci_express_pinout.shtml

Re: Help to choose caps with different ripple current

Only one is in stock. Look at the data sheets for the caps you're replacing, they will tell you the ESR and ripple required.

One of the caps you list above isn't in stock.

Re: PS4 - CUH-ZCT2E Wireless (X , O , Δ )

The PS button shares tracks with some of the shape buttons depending on version, the tracks have a measurable resistance. Try a new flex and check the foam isn't too compressed.

Re: How to know if LED driver is potentiometer dimmable?

No, not basically step down. It does not alter the voltage. Step up and step down refer to the voltage being either stepped up or down.

Re: How to know if LED driver is potentiometer dimmable?

No, it doesn't step down the voltage it controls the current.
The step down modules have crappy little multi turn potentiometers, they can be used but are fiddly and not easily adjusted. The...
