Hey all, this is Humza from Dubai. I create games for a living and I am a techie.

My father has a electronic repairing shop and sometimes he gets problematic TVs, and stuff which he can't fix.

So I thought I should join this forum and learn about TVs so that I can help my dad with his repairing.

                        Hi Everyone.

I am a newbie to this forum. I am a retired electronics engineer with over 30 years experience in computer systems. I have been an electronics/computer hobbyist since the early 70's. First computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 1 with 16KB RAM and a tape recorder for program input. We have come a long way since then. I have been fixing TVs and Radios since the tube days where my father and I would spend long hours in the cellar swapping tubes.

Hope I can receive the help I need and contribute to this forum.

Hi all. Ive wound up at BadCaps so many times through Google Search looking for info/help I've begun feeling dirty and cheap and so Its time I took a bath and dive in....
I started At Data General back in 1983 setting up MV data systems (super minis) and wound up being their hard drive repair specialist. Mostly Control Date 300 mb Winchester drives (9 platters, 18 heads, total drive weight 125 lbs. yes we repaired hds back then.).
We wanted to see what this fairly new IBM pc compitition was all about so we paid , get this, $22,000 for a zilog 8080 8 bit system.
Im rambling. Sorry. Anyway you guys have a gr8 forum and thanks for all the info!

My name is Laura and I am joining in from Madison, Wisconsin. With limited knowledge of electronics but an aptitude for figuring things out, I'm trying to fix our television that I fried out with static electricity (or so it seemed.) I've been screwing around for 10 days and am seeking some guidance on finishing my project so I can watch tv again. Maybe someone can help or maybe my TV goes in the garbage. Doesn't hurt to find out

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi, I didn't want to join just to ask one or two questions. But seeing as I'm into crunching on Boinc (WCG CEP2) and I've just bought and built 2 x d975xbx2's that are approaching ~8 years old, and I took a chance on a faulty £20 NAD T-760 from the bay, I thought I'm going to have to join if I need to ask questions and gain knowledge and so I have.

Nothing works forever, but if it's slightly broke then I don't see the harm in saving some cash and trying to fix it myself!
