A number of new systems do not have PCI slots but have PCI Express slots; certain systems also output diagnostic codes via the SMBus available on PCI Express (and most PCI Express Mini and M2) slots.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
