asus x550l wont react to power button

It has 5V, 3.3V. No shorts on coils. Power button works correctly, when pressed voltage drops.
One time turned on. Not sure how.

..but resistance checks are to be performed always with the power OFF and with NO battery.

fixed by removing cmos battery and waited for some time, after few tries it worked. BIOS went mad i guess.

Other problem. trackpad doesnt work. I have second trackpad, and it doesn't work too.
Under windows 10, device manager is not detecting any trackpad. Doesnt work on latest ubuntu and windows 7 install setup.
Asus smart gesture driver is installed (W10).

          x550ld rev. 2.0

Review the voltages on the J3102 connector.

Most interested in the voltage readings of pins 3 & 4 which are the TP I2C interface pins (SDA & SCL).

Meter in DC volts scale (5 volts or higher is ok).

Red meter probe on pin # 3 of the connector; Black meter probe to ground.

                Pin 3 : OK
Pin 4 : something is wrong here. This should also be ~3v3.

Remove all power -> check your cabling. Remove the cable for now.

Power up and check the voltage on pin # 4 again. Still 0v ?

If yes, power down again -> meter in resistance mode (lowest scale is ok).

Check the resistance to ground of pin # 4 of this TP connector J3102.

                Post the measurements.

i measured connector only, without trackpad attached.

Resistance of pin 4. is 0.1ohm - shorted.

Resistance of pin # 4 = ~0 ohms to GROUND ?? (no power when testing resistance)

Ouch! Review if you have a visible short on this line. According to the boardview diagram, this is a signal line and should be ~3v3 with no activity. This is common to I2C bus interfaces - the local pull-up performs this task.

The resistance is very low so suspecting that there is a solder short or a bad cap. Hunt the area for clues.

Possible short could be to pin # 5 = GROUND on the same connector.

                          your boardview file is wrong.

pin 4 is ground. Which is correct. No problem with pin 4.

                          pin 5 is TP_DAT
                          pin 6 is TP_CLK

Ok. So the TP connector = J3101.

What are the resistance readings for pin # 5 and # 6 to ground ?

Also measure the voltage on each pin.

                              pin 5 and pin 6 is 11kOhm
                              pin 5 is always 3.34V
pin 6 is 0V when bios, windows 7 setup. And 2.8V when in linux.

                              C3004 is OK
                              RN3034 is OK

                              only suspect is U3001

                                FIXED

Was bad trackpad + bad cable.

Working trackpad had broken cable [From the laptop with BIOS problems].
Not working trackpad had good cable [From the laptop with trackpad "problem"].
