    sony cdp30 loading gear

this oldie works fine but one of the loading gears has sheared a couple of teeth
    the sony part number is : 4 910 454 01
ive searched the net with no luck (due to its age)
    can anyone help?
the load mech uses two of these both same
its always the last gear that engages with the tray that wears .
ironically when i retired and closed my shop i binned around 30 cd players ,
    isnt it always the same
perhaps someone knows where i can buy one any ideas please

I checked the old Sony database 4-910-454-01 changed to 4-910-497-01 then to 9-910-999-31 (part nla) The part was nla back in 2000

maybe you could make one either by bonding 2 nylon gears together, or getting it 3d printed.
you may even find one - you can get gear kits for makers now.

              Hi

Not sure this would be viable for a one off , but i required a gear for VCR , that i just couldn't find anywhere .

              I approached a company dealing with CAD & 3D printing .

Sent off the broken gear .

They created a 3D imaging , then printed quite a few out for me .

If it's a common failure , you could have several printed , then sell some on E BAY , to recover you costs .

              Just an idea .

im going to trawl fleabay for a used faulty player
as this model uses two cogs the same
and its only the last one that engages with the load tray
                      that seems to wear

I faced a similar issue with a Sony tape deck.
I considered making a mould and casting but in the end bought a donor off ebay.

                          Re: sony cdp30 loading gear

i have thrown out so many optical decks over the years that i couldnt count them.
i never thought to salvage the gears first.
i used to keep good loading belts though.
