Re: Replaced LED. Lights on its own but not in the strip

    Final note on this tv.

I was given this tv because it had stopped working, the screen had some major scratches on it and it was pretty filthy.

I spent all day trying to fix the darn LED issue. When I was putting it together I decided to clean the screen to see how many big scratches were actually on it.

Thats when I noticed the cracked screen at the bottom of the panel.

No idea if I did it or if it was already there, but Im suspecting the latter.

    Time to part it out!

I told my daughter earlier today that I was treating these large pain in the bum tv's as my apprenticeship.

Lesson learned. Clean the damn things before I work on them!

Thanks to all that tried to help this poor newbie. I will learn, it just may take me a while

    Till the next time.....

      Hi,
I have the same problem with my TV (same model). One side darkened last week, to be followed by total darkness only 4 days later.
Both LED voltages (from power board) is 100V, so I presume I have two failed LEDs, one on each side. (BTW, is there a schematic diagram of this TV available from somewhere?).
So far I removed the back cover and exposed the wiring, glued with sticky tape.
I am wandering how to proceed with this, which connector should I disconnect to be able to remove metal frame and get to the LED lamps?
I am thinking the one that connects main processor with LCD driver board is the best option, not so easy to damage.... Then to unscrew the driver and carefully remove sticky tapes to free the metal frame and remove it.
      Thank you n advance p/advice.

          Thank you for suggestion :-)
Yes, it makes sense - driver board is relatively heavy and accidental fall from support while removed from frame may damage the cables..
I am guessing I will have to consider some sort of suitable tool to disengage the latches, maybe some sort of plastic spatula or something like that.
I will post about my progress when something happens :-)

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Dell Precision 5530 15" died to blown chip. Replaced chip and now only get momentary fans, lights, no screen or boot
              by joesmoe91
              Hello,

My Dell Precision 5530 turned off suddenly when I was running Matlab and wouldn't turn on, show any lights, fans, and/or any signs of activity at all. I opened the case, removed the battery and looked at the board with a thermal camera while the AC adapter was connected. I saw that PU1252 was >120C so figured the chip had died on me Got the part number off the attached schematic (see Mouser link below) and replaced the chip. After replacing the chip the board (connected to AC adapter) was able to briefly power on, spin the fans a little bit, and turn on the front led lights....

              Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

              Backlight replacement mess, Vizio V505-G9
              by giddyupngo
Hello, I would appreciate your expertise on this. I have about 5 years experience with copier repair, so I have done a lot of board and component replacement. This is the first LCD TV I tried to repair, and it really humbled me. The issue was that on power on the TV power light would go on and then fade out seconds later, and there was no image at all, screen stayed black.

I thought this meant there was a power board problem, not realizing that the power light fading out was by design, probably so the light would not distract the TV watcher. This is not my TV, so I wasn't familiar...

              Vizio-D50u-D1 Pulsating Backlights
              by csmith
This Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance.
