How to safely handle a 75inch LCD panel ?

    Hello,

I have a Sony KD75XD8505, 75 inch edge-lit tv to repair, unfortunately one of the LED strip was damaged by liquid so I need to open it, but I'm affraid to break the panel since it's so big...

I can do 55 or even 58 inch alone, by slowly sliding a big piece of cardboard (covered with cloth) under the panel, same for 65 inch but need another person to help.

I've seen suction cups mounted on a rigid chassis but it's not cheap!

What is your technique to safely move such big panels ?

I prefer to use a good set of suction cups for all sizes vs sliding anything underneath and risk scratching the back of the panel. Tolsen makes the perfect set because they give you plenty of hold power without worrying about too much suction and damaging the panel. Here in the States you can get them from shopjimmy.com ($17.49USD) per set plus shipping. Some panels will have a thin layer of adhesive two way tape holding the panel down so use a playing card to run around the edges and where there is adhesive leave the card in place so it won't re-adhere. Unlatch the suction cups once you have the panel pulled while your working on the led replacement to release the pressure and relatch when your ready to re-install. You can find some good video's on YouTube and also on shopjimmy.com on how this is done. Good luck and take your time.

How much to ship to France is anyone's guess.

I don't have enough contiguous space in the lab to take in something that size for repair, if space was not an issue I would probably construct a flip / roll over jig.

We had to change our backlight repair policy to see if we can safely pull the new Samsung Qled panels with the Bezeless design due to the panel being held in with adhesive strips like Sony likes to do. The minute Yuppie Scum goes to mount that Tv over his FIREPLACE with a ambient temperature about 100 degree F or more he'll see that panel adhesive give way and start bowing like this fool. When I saw that I refused the repair and ran as fast as I could. We won't do backlight repairs on any Tv that does not have a bezel to hold the panel in. Look at the angle this fool had on this Tv and with that much heat I'm surprised the panel is not sitting on his floor by now. 2 year old Tv. I feel sorry for him cause Samsung wouldn't do anything for him. I suggested to put it back on the stand and find a different location. I never recommend putting any Tv over a fireplace. But that's the way Yuppie Scum is designing these new Preppy Homes nowadays. Pitiful

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
              by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
              by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

              tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

              QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
              by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
              by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions
              by KYBOSH
I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
