    Sony KD-X497000D showing purple spots?

    Hi Guys

Just wondering what might be wrong with this tv. I only have a pic so cant get too in-depth withe the testing.

    Just after rough ideas.

The Tv is a Sony KD-X497000D

The info I have is that it is showing "purples spots" on the tv that are particularly visible on white screen.

I think it may be burned out LED's but not sure. I have had a few tv's before that have had LED issues, but it was always - 2 blown led's, dark screen - so I dont know if a tv will even light up like this if it was a few blown led's?

    Ideas?

Purple or blue LEDs on a TV occur when the phosphor coating has been burnt oway due to being over driven.

So the led's have been set too bright and its a damaged screen and not fixable?

One problem is that the light emitted from the led turns blue when they have been overdriven.

The fix is backlight replacement if the leds have turned blue/purple, a current mod would be advisable too or at least set the backlight to as low as tolerable.

so its not a panel issue and is fixable with led replacement?

Do a forum search using "purple led" as the search term and you should find plenty of info on this.

No not panel fault, just overdriven leds.

They want $150 for this tv and a glass unit it is sitting on (that MUST be taken with the TV lol) so maybe it is worth it?

                  49" 4K smart tv for $150 + new led's

Have you priced out the cost of replacement led strips?

Tell m you will give them a c note and get that junk out of their way, that's ONLY if the stand is REAL nice. Because after all we have a global recession that goes with this fugging pandemic, so money is in short supply.

They might be a rarer commodity down under, around here they give away that type every day.

                            They actually are.

Around my neck of the woods a 4 - 6yr old 50" led (non smart) would go for around $150 to $200 and thats a working one!

That's a good question, I'm not seeing any backlight strips that match this model.

Like I said before, get the model number of the LCD panel.
