Laptop voltages at coils and meanings?

I've recently started learning repairs reading YouTube etc

My question is I have a few Asus and hps that don't have any boardviews or schematics so I was wondering if there's a best sequence to follow in troubleshooing a laptop that isn't powering on.

I see there's various coils on most boards and I'm sure there realitive to 3v 5v memory? Cpu?

I guess I'm asking is what would one expect to find traditionaly on most motherboards and look to measure values from.

    Kind regards

I usually start with the main +19V (voltage rail after the 2 mosfets from DC in jack) then power button 3V pullup then the main 3V/5V regulator. HPs should have a white light in the DC in jack when plugged in without battery.

Thankyou for your reply, is there a sequence in how they turn on to know when a power rail is missing?

MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX (MS-16R6) LAPTOP WON'T TURN ON AFTER RESTARTING
        by RdeveLabs
        To all the members here...

Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.

So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
        by PantherDave
        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.
