    Rubycon BXA genuine or not?

I've been looking around for capacitors to replace in a power supply circuits in an audio equipment. These came from China. These are axial and Rubycon.com doesn't have any info about axial BXA type.

    Genuine or fake?
    Thx!

    Re: Are these for real??

wow... probably fake... they should be radial and high voltage. But if the capacitance checks out and doesn't blow up at 25V, at line frequencies it's probably not a big deal.

I don't see any 25v caps in that series, the BXA seem to be 160v~450v, but let me guess... they were cheap.

Thanks, so you are saying these are counterfeit capacitors, right? attached is the photo of the one that needs to be replaced.

Digikey carries Illinois Capacitor, 10,000µf/25v and 35v Axial lead. I doubt its a smps so these should work ok.

Thanks for getting back to me. Have exactly the same dimensions and look the same with an exception of a small hole which can be seen in the third photo. The original ones do not have series info printed on the side and I think they were rated 85C.

Re: Rubycon BXA genuine or not?

Rubycon BXA are for LED and inverters and they are radial, not axial. They are made for circuits with high frequencies and starts at 160V like written by R_J.

I suspect that the ones bought from you were not genuine ones.

if you open it up, you might find a whole 'nother capacitor inside (I said might)

I don't know if I would call them fake, more likely old stock, I have similar caps from the 1990's

Thanks again for all your feedback. Cartainly I can have them installed. I'm positive that the gear is going to work just fine. What I don't want to have is the situation that after 4 weeks or so caps will fail.

Here is another one also BXA series. Radial but low voltage.

That one is not genuine for sure.
Rubycon capacitors do not have concentric lines on the bottom:

They measure decent though I would not use them in demanding application.

Genuine Rubycon capacitors should be this way:

I advise looking for a genuine component.
