CMOS battery replacement on Medion Akoya P2212T

    Hi guys.
I purchased this laptop from a guy but sadly he sold me with an eror when I boot up I get a meesage with time and date incorrect
I suppose it has to do with bad BIOS battery.
Now I did purchase new CR1220 battery and want to replace it because I don't have anyone to do the job for me.
I think I have all the necessary tools for it.
Does it look too complicated for a newbie like me?
    Thoughts?
Problem is that I don't have whole stuff this protection around battery and these 2 metal pieces, nor I can order from e-bay.
I just bought brand new CR1220 battery and that is it.
How do I make all this with brand new battery (this "black protection" and metal pieces on the bat).

Re: CMOS battery replacement on Medion Akoya PP212T

You need a new CR1220 that has battery tabs spot welded to it, then you can remove the old wire and connector and solder it to the new battery.

I've contacted local store miles away and the only battery they could order is this one and need to wait approx 2 weeks.
Will this one do the job?

Real Time Clock Error at Boot

                      Hi guys.
I purchased used laptop from a local seller but when I turn it ON I get this error.
I can boot to Windows but having issues with incorrect time and date and can't connect to internet
How do I resolve this issue with time?
Would just replacing CMOS battery do the job?

                        Yes.

Locate the coin cell battery - often it is the CR2032 style but designs do change so review it. Once the battery is replaced, enter the CMOS setup and update the date to be current. Then the parameters should stick and this error will be resolved.

If in doubt, share pics of the battery.

It might help if we knew what the make and model is.Please also add the model number to your thread title in future.

You`ll know when you replace the battery,it will or it won`t. Ive already asked you for the make and model number, if you don`t want to post it thats fine. Its possible the model could have some known problem with the RTC circuit

If that is the case then replacing battery won't resolve the issue?

Could this issue relate to discharging laptop battery when laptop is OFF?

                                      Ok,finally battery will arrive tomorrow.
But I noticed one more issue with this laptop, and that is that battery discharges when laptop is switched off.
Anyway, after replacing the CMOS battery,I would get anymore warning info at boot with CMOS error, press F1 to resume...etc...?
