Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi,
I am a retired electronics engineer, mainly analog and power side. Now seem to spend my time trying to fix various bits of technology that are not designed as well as they should be!
Found some good information on here already.
Will try and contribute if I can.

Hi. I'm from Canada. I have a Samsung TV that was about a year old when it started acting up. It's a Samsung 60 inch 3D Plasma Smart TV. Since we have a Samsung 50 inch to fall back on, we don't need it right now. Since I'm retired, I thought I'd look around the internet and see if I can fix it myself. Hopefully from reading these posts, I'll be able to fix it. Thanks.

Billy from Scotland UK here. Found you via Google looking for info on what I've now found to be a very common fault on my Panasonic plasma with the 7 blinking red lights of death lol.
Thanks for providing a great source of information.

Hello! I'm Tristan61, and I love to fix things.

I'm kind of bummed that so many consumer-level products are designed to fail in a few years, and rebel quietly by doing my upmost to keep things working.

I found this site by doing a search on a monitor I have that went 'crazy', and may have found my solution. Now, I just need to find some parts and a soldering iron. That's not the same as a clothes iron, is it?

              Till later,

              Tristan61

I discovered this forum when looking for a drawing of ipos 120 from a polaroi tv.
I am an old model, my first computer was hundred square meter without any TTL so you will certainly understand I need help about new stuff.

Hello, I'm Richard, 32 from Norfolk, UK

I enjoy repairing anything and spend most of my days buying and repairing games consoles.
My first computer was a Sinclair ZX81 and my first proper PC was an IBM 8086

I joined the forum because it has an extremely good reputation , I would like to expand my knowledge and also because I want to salvage as much as I can. I hate the idea of things being thrown in a land fill to never be seen again.

My father was a TV engineer for many years before everything went digital and I can remember as a young lad sitting watching him repair for hours and hours. I'd love to follow in his footsteps.

I do understand with CRT's they need to be discharged and I'm not a stranger to that either

                                        Thanks
                                        Richard
