bricked my laptop ram from messing around too much with spdtool!

so i thought i could squeeze some extra speed out of my ram... i was trying it using some 2x2gb kingston hyperx so-dimm ddr2-667mhz cl4 on my dell latitude e6500 latoptop. it worked well only until when i tried flashing the modified settings on it using spdtool. laptop now beeps for bad ram... *grumble* had to add the stock 2x2gb nanya ddr2-800mhz cl6 ram back into it...

i tried putting one hyperx module in and the other nanya module in thinking it would follow the nanya's looser timings and settings but nooo... still no boot and same old bad memory beeps.

so i tried looking for either an spd programmer or ddr2 laptop sodimm to desktop dimm adapter but the latter only exists for ddr3 and ddr4. the ones i found on junkbay and aliexpress only actually work as a ddr2 sodimm to sodimm adapter. i wonder whats the point of those? looks pretty stupid to me... the only use i can think for it is as some kind of a sodimm riser card instead...?

as for the former, the prices for those spd programmers can be pretty shocking! at least 40 bucks shipped for one! no way am i gonna pay 40 bucks to fix a set of modules that cost only 16 bucks...

so anyone have any other ideas on cheap and cost-free ways to rescue my bricked hyperx sodimms? which i bricked from my own arrogance about my supposedly 1337 overclocking skillz?

You can still use the smaller adapters you just need to solder a few wires to the pins so that it can be used with an SPI programmer.

      This one is a ddr3 adapter https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...03&postcount=4

The spd chips are 24c02 ,if you can find some old ram you can solder some wires to it,program it with an spd dump then solder the new one on. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...2&postcount=13

yea. spdtool is such that u have to dump the spd data to disk and edit it then save the modified spd data to eeprom. i saved both the original dump and modified spd data to disk. so that i can revert and redo the edit if i dont like my modification.

Samsung UN70RU7100K halfway bricked after messing with service menu
          by Daniel Valdez
          Dear All,

FAFO is the correct definition of what happened with my Samsung UN70RU7100K TV, I was trying to change the region to enable samsung plus using the service mode, entered the mode mute 1 8 2 pwr, and started to dig in. Did some changes while having digital TV signal in the back instead of doing it in HDMI standby mode, I remember changing to a region different then mine but also had a different tuner $%&!. After rebooting the TV, it was all gone, now it shows the splash image and then no image at all. If i disconnect the lan cable from the back, a message is shown in the...

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...

This thing is pretty expensive. More than an average notebook.

Anyway. I got this job over facebook market place. Customer said he bought it used and it was working fine, then he decided to upgrade firmware and somewhere along the way the battery died or whatever we don't know, it got bricked. That's his story and he's sticking with it.

If we connect power supply to it, we are getting 21 milliamps and nothing is happening. Pressing buttons does nothing....

Fixed: Lenovo P14s Gen 1 (type 20Y1, 20Y2) Laptop (ThinkPad) bricked by a withdrawn BIOS update (r1buj82w)
          by akwky
          Hi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition Apparently Bricked BIOS Request
          by DavidChunco
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, my Dell G15 Ryzen Edition does not post anymore (black screen, no Windows boot, no BIOS screen) after Windows Update pushed what appears to be a buggy bios image, I've tried the following with no success:

          - Receive help from Dell Support (it is out of warranty).
          - Disconnect machine from AC power and battery overnight.
          - BIOS recovery process
          - Connected external display via HDMI
          - Disassembled machine and found bios chip, its a Gigadevice 25LR128DSIG (GD25LR128DSIG), at first I tried to get it detected by CH341A (with...
