    Define: Strapping

I have seen many mentions of "strapping" on these forums but still do not know what the manufacturer means by this as shown in Example below: Also does anyone have a good reference for terms used by Asian manufacturers such as "stitch" in lower right of Example 2

    Re: Define: Strapping

Strapping is usually a set of pull-up/pull-down resistors with either one populated to configure some feature of a chip. For example on "Example.pdf" you have SYS_CONFIG0/1 that are either pulled down by R7R6/R7R7 or pulled-up by R7R15/R7R8, to set the configuration bit to 0 or 1. Here schematics say "EMPTY" for the pull-ups so they're probably always pulled-down so set to 0.

One popular example of strapping resistors is on laptops with soldered-on RAM: there are strapping resistors to select the correct SPD profile according to the RAM chips on the board. (for example for different RAM size or RAM manufacturers)
