Im thinking I may have more success find the led strips with htis model number

KD-49X7000D I think they got it mixed up in the ad?

    Thought so.

as long as the panel is LC490EQY-SJA3 SYV4951 the part number should be JDE 49'' CSP DRT RIGHT V02_160122

This info taken from one KD-49X7000D that is advertised taken from unit with cracked screen

          Update on this tv.

I just picked the tv up for $100.

Got it home and plugged it in. Ive been watching netflix, youtube and plex on it for an hour and cant even notice the purple spots.

I will hang it on the wall and order the new strips, but Im not in any hurry to do it

          Good pickup

Just a question about the brightness setting for this tv.

I wanted to turn the LED brightness down to prevent another occurrence of this issue but Im not sure which setting it is in the menu?

Can anyone tell me which one I need ot look for to make sure I dont burn out the led's by running them too bright?

            Thanks

Re: Sony KD-X497000D showing purple spots?

Setting should be for backlight (not brightness). Also turn off any ambient light sensor feature than may turn up the backlight in a bright room.

Just picked up a Vizio D58U-D3 with blue backlights. It's going to take months to get the strips delivered by epacket from China so I put it away for now. Also got a repair job today for a 43UH6100 with blue backlights. Found strips on ebay so can get delivery by speedpak which currently takes around 2 weeks.

                Thanks

I was pretty lucky with this one. I will order the new strips but the blue lights are barely noticeable at the moment so I have hung it on the wall and are using it till I get the strips.

I turned off ambient light sensor but cant find any setting for backlight in the menu? only brightness?

                  would it be hidden somewhere?

Maybe Sony calls the backlight brightness now. Do the backlights get dimmer when you lower the brightness?

Typically backlight and brightness are separate settings. Brightness typically controls the brightness of the image and backlight controls the brightness of the LED backlight.

the tv is on the wall so I cant really tell the difference between the brightness and the led brightness?

Neilc6 is exactly right, they are calling backlight brightness so brightness is what you want to turn down on all modes and check to see if the settings stick, here's some calibrations on a similar model but if they suggest leaving brightness up, I would not, best to lower it as much as you can tolerate the display, I set most of mine to 0 or very low: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900f/settings
