    Vertical Lines Dell U3014

    Hey guys,

Hoping I can get some help with my monitor.

Had this UltraSharp U3014 since new and all of a sudden it won't display any sign of a working image. Unfortunately it's out of warranty so there's nothing I can do aside from attempt to fix it myself.

-As soon as I power it up, I get a black screen with a white vertical band in the center that moves horizontally (don't think the "no input detected" dialog is supposed to move)

-When I try to bring up the menu, the lines just shift to the right side of the screen. I can't see even a tiny bit of the menu.

-When I plug in a source, I can tell there's movement because the vertical lines take up the entire screen and they change as the screen's content changes (picture 1)

-When I run the self test (picture 2), I get an entire red, green and blue screen with some faint black vertical lines in the background, almost like screen burn-in. It looks worse in the photo than it is in person. In fact, I don't remember those lines being there before I ran the monitor for several hours, rather there was a faint bar in the right corner instead which is no longer there.

    - The text self test just gives me the same vertical bar as shown earlier.

    - Running the monitor for a long period of time adds a few more lines or artifacts like the faint background burn-in like lines, doesn't seem to be temperature dependent.

Also, the refresh rate has slowed down to the point it looks like a CSTN screen when switching between test patterns.

Does this sound like a defective t-con board? Defective main board? Or something more serious?

    Please see the attached photos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

It's probably a bad panel, but check the t-con voltages anyways. Sometimes one of the main boosted rails on the t-con can make the display appear messed up. Typically it's caused by shorted ceramic caps. Post some pictures if you want to do a quick check of the voltages on it.

Hi, did you ever get it fixed? I seem to have a near identical issue + symptoms with the same monitor.

Would also love to find out some voltages, etc that should be present, but can't seem to find a service manual anywhere? Anyone that can point me in the right direction? Most appreciated.

As Momaka suggested to the other user, post some pictures of your boards (nice clear pictures taken in daylight if you can) and then one of the specialists (in my case it was Momaka) can tell you where to take voltage readings and can interpret them.

                HI, I have a faulty U301.
I know it is the panel or the T-con board.
( I have a second U3014 to check this and the "panel+T-con" is is not working with the good parts and the good panel is working with the parts of the faulty U3014.
However I did not try to switch the T-con board...
My photos are not so good but I will post them, maybe you could have an advice on the faulty part, panel or T-con ?

The faint vertical white lines are what I got when I switch it on.
The green vertical lines is what I got when plugging an hdmi signal.
The brown marks is the result of pee of my cat(s)....
