    Smc update

    Hi there,
we have a problem to update the fw on a 820-2337-A Mac Pro Backplane:
    From 1.39F5 to 1.39F11.

Where we find it? How we do the upgrade?

    Re: Smc update

Hey Luigi. Sorry to piss in your Corn Flakes, but you will definitely not be able to change the SMC firmware on your 2009 Mac Pro processor board or on your mainboard. 2009 models have 1.39f5 on both the mainboard and on the processor board while 2010-2012 models have version 1.39f11. I have scoured the web on this subject and it seems that, short of replacing the SMC chip (with its 144 solder points) these firmware versions are immutable (to quote the implacable Tsialex). Worse yet, despite what some wankers have said without actually trying it out, Mac's Fan Control will do nothing to slow your howling fans down. So, your only bets are to either "grin and bear it", or swap either the backplane or the processor board so that SMC versions match.

If anyone WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT can correct me on this, I would be most pleasantly surprised.

    Good luck, get the vaccine
