see post #31 for pics....3 wire connector feeds 2 strips that clip together. red wire goes to both strips....white to 1st strip, black to 2nd.
Yes, that is one of the meters that supposedly puts out enough voltage to forward a 6V LED. That's a very pricey meter and you won't find many having that in their tool box. I looked at the spec sheet for the meter but couldn't quite nail down what the voltage was but in the thread below it is stated as 7.9VDC.

I finally found a thread where someone actually measured the LED voltage on the E65-E3, not sure why I had trouble finding it but it suggests measured voltage should be 42V, which seems very reasonable.

Re: Vizio E65-E3 Dead after backlight replacement

ok so after replacing the backlights on this E65-E3 vizio, the tv would turn on but there was no voltage going to the led strips. after pulling off every cap, mosfet, and diode on the powerboard i could not find the fault. im sure i missed something as i have not been classically schooled in electronic diagnosis. i ordered a powerboard from a e70-e3 (because they were going for 1/4 the price of the 65). once installed the backlights would shut off every so often (due to them being over juiced from the higher output powerboard. So i removed a capicator at C1, swapped transformer at T301 and swapped resistors at r317 and r318. also removed r319 that made both boards identical.
There was also a pretty heated discussion about zener diodes in this thread. Thanks to all who contributed!!

Thanks for the clarification concerning the red white and black wires. Believe it or not, I checked ALL 12 strips by connecting my LED supply (via + on red and - on black or white as was appropriate) and NOT even one strip would come on. I will be opening the light box soon and hope to be able to report my find.

so I did all what mentioned above and still did not turned on the LEDs however I did try to put an E80-E3 main board and it starts right up and LEDs on
(the picture is shifted and stuff like that but I guess its because the E80 is programmed for a T-CON with 4 output)

anyway the red wires from the mother board to the LEDs is all having the right output voltage but no GND (I assume its a low side switch circuit) while I was testing the LED switch transistors for GND continuity I placed the multimeter's (+) on the frame and the (-) on the transistor and the controlled strip by that specific transistor is came on.

My question is that I have a bad LED controller chip on the board ?
If yes how can I test that?
If no, anybody out there which way to go from here because I feel like I'm close to a fix here??

(Also there is picture and sound just no background LED,, LED strips tested good with external LED tester, Power supply needed to be replaced, set did not came on at all previously)
