I have an Acer Aspire 5740g with no power - no lights . Adapter is tested ok , motherboard is getting power 19V from power jack . I've found some mosfets getting 19V also and one with 3.3V but nothing else (nowhere 5V , or 1.1V) .Also , I can see 3.3V on the power button but nothing on LEDs . Any help please where to look ?
Do you have pu17 Chip there ? İts a 12 or 14 legs, black long cap
Many and Many Thanks.
I´vogot an Acer 5740 no power, no lights. I remove de U16 chip Bios PM25LV010, and SPI 128Kx8 flash.
I reprogramming with the code here using this parallel port programmer, and now its works AGAIN
Although old thread, can also say I had success reviving a 5740G too. Same KBC issue, but since I didn't have a programmer, I just flashed the KBC on a old 775 mobo's SPI BIOS chip (GB GA-945GZM-S2 Rev6.6) and then kinda ghetto soldered it on the mobo (I had to bend the pins enough to be able to solder them on the mobo). Mobo came to life and I'm writing this post from it.
Oh, and in my case, I had to:
-use flashrom (https://www.flashrom.org/Flashrom, just so people won't mistake it for ATI's flashrom which is for GPUs) to flash the BIOS (since it just flashes it like a normal external programmer would do, unlike other DOS flash programs)
- copy the EC BIOS 4 times, this is because the KBC was 128KB and the flash chip I used was 512KB. To do that, I simply ran copy/b 5740KBC.bin+5740KBC.bin+5740KBC.bin+5740KBC.bin kbc512.bin before flashing. The downside to this is that I won't be able to flash the BIOS due to Wistron's flash tool not recognizing the 4Mbit flash I used.
Hello, please I was using my acer 5740 after I turned it off and never came back to life. I did a quick search and found out the issue was from the U16 BIOS Please can anyone help me
