 I'm surprised that there's still some mobo manufacturer use GSC caps. And about Asus, shame on them! Abit or albatron is free from bad caps now.. with lower price tag and higher quality of mobos.. [/RANT] |

If they are in the power section you may want to consider replacing them, I have them on my PCChips M848 too... Generally regarded as junk.

How did Nichicon earn the four stars?
All troubles I've had with ASUS boards are related to them... I've been lucky though, this is the first time they have failed after the warranty has expired  |

BP-OMowe, it was only their HM/HN models and only for part of 2002 and 2003, if I remember correctly. (They were overfilled with electolyte I think.) However, large quantities of caps from that batch went out and caused many problems in various machines. I have two Intel boards with them, one of which is OK (but I'm watching it), in fact. The largest, most known failure was probably in Dell OptiPlex GX270s like the one above.
