Default What Exactly Is a Capacitor?

Here is a very informative article, titled What Exactly Is a Capacitor? It give some history and discusses the common types. The section on ceramic types gives good info on temperature coefficients.

Here is a technical information document from AVX, describing monolythic ceramic caps and their manufacture.

I love the history stuff.
Like when the first capacitor had gold and was measured in Cubits.
Maybe one of those Leydon jars could cool my Proc and filter the V supply at the same time.
