Samsung UE37D5520R stuck in boot loop

From initial power (plug in socket) the tv immediately turns on and goes in a boot loop.
Power on,red stby light, Samsung Smart logo, 4 red blinks as logo goes and Hdmi1/DVI 'Source' appears on screen but no picture (now tv box connected to hdmi1 port), tv shuts down and cycle starts again!

First thing to try I guess is fw update, but is it safe to do so? taking into account its power cycling.

On initial inspection the boards and connectors look good.
Disconnect the main and the backlights come on and remain on, no power cycle/shutdown.

The D5XXX series is famous for this defect. Try cooling spray on the nand memory. Before starting or immediately after starting.

It's usually bad blocks on the Nand causing a boot loop after showing the logo, you can try an FW update but it usually needs replacing.

yh, I was hoping I'd get away without having to change the nand. Main board swap is def a no-go as they are stupidly priced!

For nand. With this I repaired, on the same day, 3 of the D5500 series. If it starts enter the service menu and give factory reset and then update to the latest software of the manufacturer.

Factory reset and update. The nand must be cooled either before the TV is plugged in or immediately after it has been plugged in. Try both methods. If you are lucky you can repair it without replacing the nand memory.

update done via online, all good so far.
Lucky the tv stayed on long enough for it to download and install it, phew!

So, on Smarthub (connected to wifi via dongle) and it started to do an auto update for smarthub, thats when the problems came back! dammit. oh well.

                          So back to reboot loop.

if you freeze it again it starts well or not?

yh freezing it got me back and re-installed online, not convinced it completed properly the first time, so got it back again!

Then in Smarthub it did the auto update again but actually worked this time

Freeze Spray sometimes helps, but the bad blocks do not disappear. Personally, I have never succeeded with freeze spray. The best thing to do is to reprogram the NAND and turn off the auto update option in the menu. For reprogramming you do need good working software.

what hardware and software do you use for these nands?

I use a GQ-5X NAND programmer. https://www.mcumall.com/comersus/sto...idProduct=4583 It comes with the necessary software.
