    Isolation and MW transformers are quite different, though.
    Because MW traffos have to handle a lot of power while still trying to make them fairly compact, manufacturers usually keep the number of primary (and thus secondary) turns a bit small. This, however, lowers the inductance (and resistance) of the transformer's primary, which causes fairly large current to be drawn even at no load. For this reason, MW transformers also aren't usually rated for continuous duty cycle. On that note, most "long" MW cooking presets typically switch the MW to "medium" power - i.e. they cycle the transformer on and off periodically to allow it to cool. If you leave a MW transformer plugged into the wall continuously, even with no load, it will eventually overheat and burn itself out.
