      Re: Asus X455L Short Mosfet

Remove all power -> meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance to ground of your 2 x DCin mosfets.

      These are PQ8801 & PQ8802.

      Review the resistance between:

      source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
      source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
      gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Post the resistance readings and the scale used on your meter for these tests.

Repeat for PQ8802. Often the 2nd mosfet gets damaged.

Do also confirm the resistance to ground of the main power rail which will be mated with the 2nd mosfet (PQ8802) - drain pins (5-6-7-8).

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

What are the resistance readings of these parts to ground?

Carefully remove each but do not lose the parts. Use low air pressure so other parts are not lost.

Is the short gone if you remove these 2 parts?

Measure the resistance of these capacitors when they are removed off the board. Is the resistance very low for these parts?

Do as @mon2 says, he is guiding you properly.
I don't provide help for people using CH341A and a clip.

Pour some ipa (alcohol) on the part so you can read the markings. Looks like Winbond on the top line and 25?4 on the 2nd line but share the full details.

this is a flash memory device if my eyes are correct.
