Need replacement advice for surface mount electrolytic capacitor

    Hi all,

I have a faulty monitor, the surface mount electrolytic capacitor 33uF 100V needs to be replaced, now I can't seem to source them locally, so my question is can I replace it with a through-hole electrolytic capacitor of the same value? Or has someone got a better suggestion?

Sure no problems to do that.

I get that the manufacturer used the SMD type instead of through-hole to save on space, but considering I can't find the SMD versions locally and waiting months on end to get them delivered from overseas, I suspected that the through-hole equivalent should just work. I just wanted to get a second opinion if this will work and whether it will stand the test of time ie more than 6-12 months.

Yeap worked fine, had to bend it on its side for it to fit but worked out nicely, thanks for the confirmation. Much appreciated.
