Samsung UE37D5520 boot loop partly fixed

So the tv is a Samsung Ue37D5520, found a UE40D5520 tv with what I believe to have a faulty panel so out comes the main board to donor into the 37".

Board connected and tv powers on and appears to stay on but what should I do before doing any reset, fw update, connect to a network or use apps etc...???

Also should the usb update file be for the UE37 or UE40???

    thanks

yh think your right, filenames the same and file size the same.

So should I do a factory reset first in service menu then with the tv on insert usb stick with Samsung website Update file?
      What step is needed next?

Guy on ebay who does programmed nand chips recommends doing a software reset/software upgrade, and Smart upgrade procedure after installing his chip.

What is the smart upgrade? anyone

ok, now I read it right, go ahead and try it see how it acts, last sammy I did with a slightly different board worked straight away, didn't need to reset or update.

Well the factory reset and update to 1025 went ok but before this the Smarthub function just says network not currently connected though have tried a lan cable and a samsung wifi dongle that does connect to router but still no smarthub function on tv?
Have checked date/time settings, switching between auto and manual but still no dice!

I'm not exactly sure but none of the tv makers are too swift with keeping the apps and stuff updated and functioning as the tvs get older, they may have abandoned it.

I have evn seen where an update will break a function that previously worked and I'm pretty sure they do it on purpose, why? I don't know.

Re: Samsung UE37D5520 boot loop partly fixed

Not exactly sure, but after doing the update to 1025 I went via main menu, Support, Smart Hub and it said 'Installing' then 'Starting' and up came smarthub and working now.
Sure enough smarthub updated from ver 3.288-6.0.00067 to ver 3.7451-6.0.00067
Before the update when I went through the menu to smarthub it just said 'starting' so possibly this step needs to take place after the update. Possibly???

Its also on its own done a service update on bbciplayer, bbcnews, muzu.tv.

Shall proceed with 1027 update though doubt theres much more benefit to be had.

Went ahead and did the 1027 usb update all ok.

Although smarthub starts no apps still, bummer.

Anyway, i did the plug and play option in menu (1st time installation) and in the process i decided to check for updates (skipped this step previously) and it found a 1027 update, well, I thought I had just done that, so it did it anyway but to no benefit still.

                          Beginning to think corrupt nand.

Saw this, don't know if it is just that app or what but I didn't see your model on the list so it might not even be relevant: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/t...012-smart-tvs/
