I have just ordered a main board. Has this been known to fix this problem???

    I hope so.
You need to at least check the Voltages at the connector of the power supply that goes to the main board to see what is missing first.

      Thanks!

The voltage readings are as follows:

      3,4,5: gnd
      6-7 (12v): 0v.
      8(remote on/off): 0v
      9(backlight on/off):0v
      10(pwm1):0v
      11(pwm2):0v
      12(pwm3)0v
      13(pwm4)0v
      14(pwm5):0v

If your main board does not send PSon to the PSU, the TV will stay off.

So, hold off ordering another power supply until my replacement main board arrives?

Sorry, EE, but not sure of the order of operational voltage on this TV.

Re: Vizio E550i-a0 no turning on

'8(remote on/off): 0v' The main board is not sending the ON (PS-ON same as remote on/off) command to turn on the rest of the power supply.

              Thanks for the explanation.

I'll post back after Friday when the main board gets here.

Show us good clear pictures of YOUR boards.
Did you do any DCV readings on the connector of the power supply board that goes to the main board to see if it at least has the standby Voltage to run the main board?

well, without your pictures and not having any pin outs with corresponding voltages, I don't think we are getting very far.

I have this same model tv e550i-a0, with what sounds to be a similar issue. I turned on my tv after I got home from work. The backlight lit and I could hear the show that was on. Before purchasing anything, I thought I should ask on here first. I read through this thread and took the requested measurements. All of the voltages on the power supply checked out. I am curious as to what/where I should try to test from here.

Please give us the list of your Voltage readings, so far in this thread we are not getting the correct Voltages of the command signals or the power supply Voltage readings.

I also checked the 2 big caps, and they read at 404v. I also have a different board than previously discussed. http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...0320-top_1.jpg

Since you have a lit backlight, then try checking the mainboard for fuses (if any). Also, check the voltage regulators on the mainboard for proper output.

So just by chance as I was getting ready to check voltage regulators, I turned it on to see if the screen was doing the same thing. It was not. The left side of the screen booted as normal, the right side was mostly white, but you could see part of the vizio emblem and once it was finished you could see what channel it was on. After it was to the screen that showed there was no input the left side started pulsing from white to a perfect no input screen. The right side never changed.

Ok. I finally found a burned board. I don't know what the board is called, but it located at the bottom of the tv. It is one of the boards that the ribbon cables run to from the main board.
