mitsubishi 3000gt ecms

been seeing a bunch of these lately.
caps leak on board and cause all sorts of annoying intermittants.
had 3 in this week.
usually get 1 a month.
same ecm in other mitsubishi cars too.

HMMM... Do you have a 3000gt with leaking caps in the ECM? If so, maybe a couple pics?? I've got a 1990 Nissan 300ZX, and now I'm getting curious and might pop the cover off my ECM... Mitsubishi and Nissan both come from the same neck of the world....

not seen any datsun/nissan stuff yet.at least not for bad caps.
i didnt take pictures yet as i try to fix and put back in the mail same day.

Not bad caps, but are you aware that the series 1 Z32's PTU generally fail.

its believed to be related to heat and vibration, so ppl generally relocate it to another point in the engine bay.

I have a 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT that I replaced the caps on it's computer. Two were starting to leak and would have caused problems. Did not have any symptoms, I just did it in advance when I heard about this problem.

HEY rumblefish73 could you please take a picture of the back of your ECU ...

My 100 microfarad Capacitor has leaked and burnt the copper trace of the negative side of that Capacitor.

So I dont know what copper trace to resolder the negative lead to

A picture would let me know where to start

I wasn't aware mine was CA emissions. What's the difference?

I don't have any pics of the underside. Have you tried looking for a schematic?

There is a trace in the 4th picture you sent that I didnt even know was there

The Leaky Capacitor must have destroyed the entire trace

I will resolder the trace today and send You a pic of What I am dealing with

Where are you located....mabye I could pay you to take out your ECU and rebuild mine looking at yours

I tried looking and calling around for a schematic......No Such Thing
