If by "rating" you mean capacitance and voltage, it often does matter, because the temperature, impedance, and ripple current rating often matter a lot.
On the other hand, if you are comparing a 30 year old capacitor and a 2021 manufactured capacitor of the same capacitance, voltage, temperature, impedance, and ripple current ratings, the newer part might be smaller, due to technology progress.PeteS in CA
