    Million volt PSU?

No relation to the seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-High-vo...e/312347946629

Can such a device actually insulate to 1MV (= 1000KV)? At 1MV it should be able to jump a 30cm gap.

Or is it really just 1KV (which makes more sense when they say the spark will jump 1 to 2 cm.)

Dang once again people using improper units piss me off. And a lot of people are writing ads with 1000KV... GRR.

True, think I was a bit too optimistic of 1KV jumping 1cm. Based on dielectric strength of air of 3MV/m, 1cm would require 30KV. So that thing probably is no more than 50KV or so.

Yeah looks like overinflated numbers indeed. But either way at 1MV able to jump 30cm, it'd run across the outsides of the wires to the other terminal if it can't jump directly, very difficult to insulate against 1MV.

And yes indeed 1MV != 1mV. And that's why capitalization matters...

diode gone wild has done analysis and teardown of some of those.

For kicks, how would you build a battery powered million volt PSU? (DC, not static electricity)

Keep in mind: 1 mA at 1 million volts is a kilowatt...

Tesla coils probably where to start...
