Hi,
I have received an X1 carbon gen 3 (board 13268-1) which is supposedly having a bad MB. Unfortunately the previous owner did not say what "bad motherboard" means.
First symptoms : upon plugging in power, the power button lights up in green, but nothing happens. My first guess was that a corrupted bios could cause this.
Wannabe solution 1 : I reflashed the bios with a known good one.
Now there is an update with the symptoms : When I plug it in the fan spins for around 5 seconds, and then it just throws a common fault message of 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps.
According to a few thinkpad sites, the 5-5 beeps is just "Motherboard failure"

Weird thing : sometimes after plugging in the power, it shuts off after 10 ish second (audible click noise from speaker), and on other times, it stays "on" ( Power button stays green)
Visual inspection shows zero signs of physical damage.
After the following, I have decided to measure a few components and that's what I got :
vcc cpu core - 1.8v
1R05AMT_VX - 0.6v
VCC1R05AMT - 1v
VCC5M_PH - 9.0-9.2v
CHARGER_SW - 0.7v
BQ24760_CSP - 0.7v
Also : I could not find any blown fuses, I've checked around 20 ish (but its possible I missed some)
(I'm not sure what else to measure other than cpu core, hence this post)
I can send boardview files for anyone who's interested
