    I've used caps older than that without any issues. As others have said, good caps have a long shelf life.

    If you do decide to go the ebay route, make sure to post some photos of what you get before you use them just to make sure they're the real thing.

      10 years shelf life is bogus.
      Most companies state 3 years.
      Rubycon gives it 2 years at room temp and 6 months at 85C.

      Most manufacturers say that if lytic caps are over 3 years old they should be reformed.

      That said I've used caps much older than 'they' say without 'formal' reforming and without any issues.
      - But I think 10 years old without reforming is pushing it way too far.
