Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi! Created an account forever ago (probably just to nab schematics)... making a post here because I now need to request schematics and I'd not been expecting that at the time.

But I don't learn so easily (by which I mean I'm too stubborn for my own good!) :-/ and so I tend to blow up a lot of Intel Compute Sticks and clones because the power switch would be really handy if you could extend it... but even the slightest whiff of soldering iron heat and it shorts shut... and inevitably, trying to remove it results in the surrounding management circuit getting nuked in the process

Wouldn't be so bad if I could get hardware ref docs for the AXP288 PMIC! but it looks like Shenzhen X-Powers Corp dried up and blew away some time ago, and what's in the publicly-available datasheet is insufficient information for reconstructing that particular circuit.

Sooo as soon as I can post new threads, I'm going to be asking in the schematics forum for circuit diagrams for "the Intel STK1A32SC Compute Stick, or ANY Atom x5-z8300 system with AXP288 PMIC" with a short list of systems I know will have the right info, and this humble explanation of my clumsiness.

Hi! I'm a repair hobbyist interested in repairing all kinds of broken electronics, especially pc components. I have repaired a couple laptop motherboards and a gtx 1060. I also dabble in the world of extreme overclocking and have a box full of modified gpus .

Currently I'm trying to repair a b350 motherboard that won't post. It has been an interesting excercise in motherboard troubleshooting.

Hi there! I do electrical engineering for work, and decided to debug and fix a dead motherboard from lenovo x230; getting knee deep into power management on this board and thoroughly enjoy it. Looking forward to be part of the laptop/pc repair community.

                            Hi there.
                            Here's my intro:

My name is Robbert, the dutch guy, living (it up) in Istanbul, Turkey.
                            I'm a retired electronics engineer.
I had a ICT company in the Netherlands, and was installing professional network systems in company office spaces. I was specialised in large Wifi infractures, backup servers and remote access.

I found out out about this Badcaps.net from Richard, the YT guy from the 'Learn Electronics Repair'. I found his absolutely great PSU repair video's and I'm now repairing a defective PSU on my own.

                            My hobbies:
                            - Hamradio (callsign TA2IX and also PA3BKL). I'm mainly a CW guy, but also using D-STAR, DMR and C4FM digital modes.
                            - Photography.
                            - 3D printing and design.
                            - COMPUTERS. I'm a Mac user, but am also a big LINUS fan (using Raspberry Pi's, Arduino's and the like)

And I have a huge collection of computers from the 70-ties and on (SBC's, CP/M machines)

I am a big fan of the FORTH programming language (used in HP calculators, in Spacecraft (JPL is using Forth too!!), etc.

                            That's it for the moment.

Hope to meet a lot of interesting users on BadCaps.net.

                            73 de Robbert / PA3BKL

Hi, I'm an electronics tech from Canada repairing music and audio gear, and attempting to delve into digital electronics out of necessity. I repair a lot of jukeboxes and some of the digital controls introduced in the 80's and 90's are long obsolete and lacking any factory support. There is a huge demand for these machines to be repaired and the expertise can be hard to find, so I'm taking on more myself. I've replaced 1000's of capacitors in my lifetime and am only getting started.
