    in the time that took, he could have got a job, and used the money to have a pcb made.

        That's crazy... I wouldn't even dead bug a DIP... Then again I try to fabricate my own boards...

          i did a "dead bug" on a 32pin tqfp package once so i could program the bootloader on it.
          i only needed about 12 wires though.

            Mathematicians who like fractals and numbers would love doing such integrated soldering and reinventing the wheel because it is fun.

              I've dead-bugged a 10 pin DFN before. 0.5mm pad pitch. Maybe about 0.2mm or so between contacts....
              Yeah I did that by hand. Took a while, but I was successful!
              I had to use the wire strands from some stranded wire... was the only wire I had that was thin enough!
