    Cleaning Off Blu Tac

    Hi there

    Just a Tip..

I had a Logitech Webcam that had rubber feet, which was on top of my monitor.
It made such a mess on the base of the Camera, but I found that WD-40 cleaned it spotlessly.

    Thanks me later

You can sometimes use brake cleaner to remove glue but spray on the paper towel and wipe but if it is clear plastic it can also cloud the clear plastic test a small spot first

You can sometimes use “ Goo Goo Glue and Tape Adhesive Remover ” but some time it might make the plastic tack-e to touch if you do not use enough of a few times but test it on clear plastic first to see if it makes it cloudy looking

WD-40 is 50% Kerosene aka jet fuel and mostly solvent Naphthalene aka lighter fluid, with a teeny tiny bit of mineral oil.
Brakleen is 50% acetone, the rest naptha and toluene.

Thankyou Sam - Is Brake cleaner safe in plastic?

I need to find something that cleans those double sided sponge things that almost weld to plastic

Hi Redwire - Has the WD-40 secret been leaked?
                  Excuse the pun.

I love WD-40 it has so many uses

                    Re: Cleaning Off Blu Tac

for removing sticker glue i use white spirit - very cheap at toolstation
but test it on a hidden area first - it can fog some plastics and make pressed cd's explode!!!

You can see the chemical ingredients listed on the MSDS.
The worst mistake with WD-40 is thinking it's useful as a lubricant - it all evaporates fast.

Would anyone ever use WD-40 as a a switch cleaner?

I used to use Electrolube in the old days to clean Volume pots on TV's

                          Re: Cleaning Off Blu Tac

WD40 is only good for spraying on rusted bolts outdoors.
and even that is probably not as good as 50/50 acetone and ATF fluid.
