    Haha, well I wasn't thinking of putting that UV in my monitor. I was just wondering if the Dells inverter would fire it up. I already have some CFL (twisted bulbs) to use, but that UV tube one already has proper wires attached.

    I know my video board needs caps, and my psu is probably still OK although should get news caps for the heck of it anyway, but I don't know if the inverter is OK or not. I don't even know how to remove the CCFL's. I was thinking about testing them on one of my Inverters I have for custom PC use, if that will work but I don't know. Either way I need to verify that the inverter and CCFL's are OK before I plan to fix anything else.

    Still in research mode for that task.

      I have a few of these lights, do you think I could use them without having to open them?

      They are sold at home depot for 4.97$

        You could use those directly, yes.

        Just bear in mind that they may not last as long as they would when used with the correct inverter, I think the monitor inverters drive a higher voltage as their CCFL tubes are longer, so the test lamps may fail faster. That's what I experienced anyway - although I was using scavenged tubes from CFL lamps which may have been near their end of life already...

              How many thousands of LCD monitors have you fixed to collect all that?

              Gee. To think I already had second thoughts of doing a lamp replacement after I did my first, because I thought it was so "involved".

                  Can I be able to use this technique in following picture, where there is only lead out from the master and slave as in the picture.

                  will there be any circuit or capacitors underneath?

                  this is a old 32 inch , lg 32lh60yr. backiight sometimes stays on varying intervals,sometimes just flashes just for a second. and want to determine inverter or lamps that is bust.

                  panel : lc320wud

                  inverter board : LG 6632L-0548A

                      Can't say for sure. You would have to trace how the CCFLs inside the LCD are connected. Perhaps someone who've seen this might know better. But from what I can guess, there are two possibilities: either each CCFL inside the LCD is connected to ground (or perhaps another grounding circuit) -or- two CCFLs are in series and there is no connection to ground anywhere.

                      If it's the latter, I'm not sure if a regular CFL would be okay or not, as the voltage might be much higher. And if it's the former, then it becomes a question of where/what circuit the CFL should be grounded to.

                      Thus, I think you might need to make a new thread on this, open up the LCD screen so that you can trace how the CCFLs are connected inside, and post pictures there. That should allows for a more definitive answer, I think... of course, unless someone has seen this before and can tell you for sure.

                        Perhaps if you trace out how the output windings of the transformers are connected it will give you some clues?

                            Hello every body,
                            I m French so please excuse me for my not excellent english.
                            I have an LCD TV Samsung LE37B530 with BN44-00301 Power Board and i have an issue with Backligh.
                            The Bakligh always Blink, with or without connection to main board.
                            I read and read again the post here but nothing.
                            I try with a CFL and is lighting 5 second and stop but no Blinking

                              It could be that the CFL is drawing slightly less/more current than your backlight tubes would, hence it's still going into protection but taking slightly longer to do so? Just a guess but seems possible given the arrangement of the lamps in this set.
