Vizio D55-F2 audio problem

I got this for free because the recycle place said it didn't work. Got it home and seemed to work fine. It played great as I kept it on for about 4 hours trying to see whats wrong. Shut it off and then immediately turned it back on. Guess what? No sound. Tried the same scenario with different sources and got the same result. Only get sound again if I let the tv sit for a while. I'm suspecting main board but wanted a few suggestions before I purchase another one. Thanks in advance

a few things to try if you didn't already, tv unplugged press and hold power button on tv for 30 seconds, factory reset, firmware update, did you see if the external speaker or headphone part works if equipped, that is during the fault condition?
