        Thank you for your replies.

The motherboard is from a Lenovo Legion 5 - the laptop needed a screen change after being dropped. On installing the new screen then laptop would not power on. No sign of life.

The component in question is getting very hot and looks likes it's got a burn mark.

Please see the attached image for the motherboard model number.

If someone has the schematic for this board please 🙏 let me know.

        Thank you

That is the same problem but I would not say the screen was the problem.

Could the problem be caused because the original screen was 120mhz and the replacement 144mhz?

The motherboard part number will be silkscreened in white somewhere. When you find it use the forum search,it might be posted already,or post your request in the "Schematic Requests ONLY!" section here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=41

I doubt it,it was probably caused from something shorting when dropped. The lvds cable could be damaged

well as SMDFlea said - it 99% is Richtek RT6585C
Check VIN pin on chip(SMDFlea gave link to datasheet) and check other pins(IMHO LDO3 and 5 are most important as they are 3.3V and 5V) so maybe it's not chip, but it probably is
