as above what is so different in usb compared to usb3 ? its just i need use an extension for usb 3 and only have usb 2 ones . i tried painting it blue and no dice .

There's an additional two pairs of wire and another ground contact in the connector that needs to be connected... so yeah need special connector and more wire pairs specially shielded for high speed. -

Should be able to look at the usb3 plug and see there are 9 contacts - 4 on the outside, and 5 inside...Comment
