    More weird HDMI problems...

    I gave up on the HDMI splitter and started switching the cables manually using a coupler. I'm having issues with the following configuration:

    HP 24fw --> HDMI cable #1 --> Coupler --> HDMI cable #2 --> DisplayPort adapter --> Computer

    I have two brand new cables, and neither of them will give any output if placed in either position #1 or position #2. These cables both work fine if I skip the coupler as follows:

    HP 24fw --> HDMI cable #1 --> DP adapter --> Computer

    So they do clearly work and it would suggest an issue with the coupler/extra cabling. But where it gets weird is other brand HDMI cables I've tried in position #2 in the first example work absolutely fine with the coupler. I've replaced both the coupler and DP adapter for new ones of the same brand and the behaviour is unchanged.

    So why am I fussed if the other cables work? Well I'm worried it's going to damage something - one of my DP adapters died after a week's use and I'm wondering if it's something to do with this setup.

    Has anyone got any ideas why this would happen?

    Thanks everyone

      Yep I believe this is it - a split second after posting this (as always seems to be the case!) I realised I have one of those cheap passive HDMI repeaters. If I put that in place of the coupler all cables work fine! Hopefully the new DP adapter doesn't die on me...

        Oh christ I just plugged my PS4 into the repeater and I'm now getting no picture on any monitor I plug it into. Has this thing just killed my PS4?

        Edit - starting a new thread, system is 100% WLOD now

          BTW, how long are the cables?
